Yorkiepoo Grooming

Grooming your Yorkiepoo is a good chance for you to spend some quality socializing time with your dog amidst your busy schedule. It is also an important measure in keeping your Yorkiepoo clean and comfortable. Thus, grooming is an area that should not be neglected.

It is not recommended that you assume that dogs are able to use the grooming supplies as you. Often, grooming supplies designed for human use have different characteristics, which may be harmful for your little friend.

Here are some of the areas to take note of when grooming your Yorkiepoo:yorkiepoo3.gif

Ears

Your Yorkiepoo's ears should be kept clean to help prevent ear infections. When cleaning your dog's ears, start by putting dampening a cotton ball with your dog ear cleanser. Use that cotton ball to rub the outer ear of your dog, cleaning off any dirt in that area. Do be careful to not get anything into your dog's ear canals. Also take note to do the massaging gently so that you won't hurt your Yorkiepoo's ears.

Coat

When combing your dogs, do not force your way through a difficult tangle with your comb. Doing so will not guarantee your chances of untangling it, and it may be painful for your Yorkiepoo. Instead, you can try picking these tangles apart gently as much as you can. Comb its hair away from its eyes so that they won't be an irritant to your dog.

When bathing your pet, do not use shampoos designated for human use. A dog's coat and skin has different pH requirements than a human's skin. As such, using human shampoo may damage your Yorkiepoo's skin and coat. Instead, use shampoos specially formulated for dog usage. You can also try using tear-free formulas when washing its face to make it more comfortable for your dog.

Nails

Your dog may naturally wear its nails down naturally but sometimes, they may have not worn them down to a suitable, healthy length. A good indication that their nails are getting too long is when you hear their nails clicking against the floor when walking. It will be a good idea to get your dog accustomed to having its paws handled during its puppy days, so that they won't be as touchy about their paws as they were when they're first handled. Older dogs that are exposed to changes later in life will be more resistant to it than when they are younger and more open-minded.

Grooming your pet does more than providing a socializing opportunity and making it look and smell nice. Grooming your pet is a vital element in keeping your Yorkiepoo happy and healthy, and should not be overlooked or neglected.
